Any document that commits the University to pay or provide goods or services to another party is a contract. This includes formal contracts, but also may include letters, Memorandums of Understanding, or a “click-through” on a website.

You can find sample agreements and templates for the most commonly used contracts on our Forms & Templates page.

Any contract or agreement that must be submitted to our office must be submitted via Buy.IU.  You can find additional information on our Buy.IU page.

Signature Authority for Contracts

According to University policy, only the Treasurer of the University or that person’s designee has the authority to sign contracts on behalf of the University.

If you do not have a written delegation of authority from the Treasurer to sign contracts, you must either obtain such a delegation prior to signing the contract or send the contract to our office for review via Buy.IU before obtaining the Treasurer’s signature.
