Andrea Brandes Newsom joined our office in 2023 as a Senior Associate General Counsel. Her areas of concentration include litigation, university and government relations, public safety, faculty affairs and civil rights compliance.
Prior to joining our office, Andrea served as Vice President and General Counsel for the University of Indianapolis. Before transitioning into the practice of higher education law, she gained broad legal experience in her service as Court Administrator for the Marion Superior Court in Indianapolis, Chief Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Indianapolis, Director of International Programs for Sallie Mae, Administrative Law Judge for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, and as a Marion County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney.
Andrea earned an A.B. in Oxbridge History with honors, magna cum laude, from William Jewell College and received her J.D. from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University.
