Tom Froehle joined our office in 2026 as vice president and general counsel.
He most recently served as a partner and chair emeritus of Faegre Drinker. He has served on the board of directors of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Indiana Sports Corp and many other professional and civic organizations. He was awarded The Indiana Lawyer’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.
As IU’s chief legal officer, Froehle directs the university’s legal strategy, manages both in-house attorneys and outside counsel, and advises senior leadership on matters such as governance, policy development and risk management. He also oversees the offices of civil rights compliance, university compliance and internal audit.
Froehle received his law degree from the University of Michigan and his undergraduate degree from Indiana University Bloomington.
